In January 2007, the legal structure of the Demco Family Group changed, and ownership was transferred from John Wall to other family members whose interests are managed by a holding company, called the Wall Family Enterprise Inc. This restructuring involved both Demco Europe Limited and Technology Supplies Limited becoming subsidiaries of the Wall Family Enterprise Inc.

In September 2006, the trading name of Demco Worldwide Limited was changed to Demco Europe Limited to reflect the geographical area in which the company operates, and in October 2006 Demco Interiors moved from Wellingborough to newly refurbished offices in Rushden, Northamptonshire. The new offices also house a showroom, which display furniture and 'Design Space' ideas.

The Demco brand name was first used to enter the Dutch and French library markets in 2005 and 2006 respectively, and it will continue to be used to enter other European markets as part of our European growth development plan.

Also Technology Supplies Limited was acquired by Demco Worldwide Limited in September 2005. They specialise in supplying workshop equipment and consumable products to the design, technology and art departments in secondary schools across the UK

The Demco Family Group of companies expanded further during 2003 following the acquisition of one of Demco Inc's major US competitors, Gaylord Brothers. Gaylord's sales and marketing activities are located in Syracuse, New York, whilst they share distribution and warehousing operations with Demco Inc.

Demco Inc entered into negotiations with the owners of Don Gresswell Limited to investigate the possible acquisition of the company. Subsequently in 2001 negotiations were concluded and Gresswell was acquired by the Demco Group.

At the same time a new company, Demco Worldwide Limited was created as the legal entity to include both the LFC and Gresswell direct mail and projects operations. Demco Interiors was born out of the merger uniting the expertise of the two projects divisions of LFC and Gresswell being located in Wellingborough. The direct mail catalogue operations of Gresswell (UK and Eire), LFC and Demco were merged and consolidated at our operations in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire and remain as separate brands.

During this time Demco Inc, a Madison (USA) based library supplies specialist established in 1905, approached LFC as a way to enter the UK and European markets.

Negotiations to develop a business relationship between Demco Inc and LFC concluded in December 1992. Demco helped LFC to publish their first direct mail catalogue in May 1993 containing 48 pages and presenting unique products obtained from the USA. The catalogue differentiated itself from its competitors, one of whom was Gresswell at the time, by offering a free-phone service to libraries and a no quibble guarantee.

In October 1986 Library Furnishing Consultants (LFC)was established with the objective of providing a fast, efficient, end to end turnkey furnishing service for libraries, which offered greater emphasis on interior design than previously available in the market.

As a result, LFC achieved an impressive rate of growth to a turnover of £2.5 million by 1992.

In 1984 a special division called Gresswell Projects was created to design and manage the installation of library projects. They grew rapidly and secured numerous prestigious library refurbishments and new build contracts.

50's and 60's

Throughout the 1950's and 60's the Gresswell name became synonymous with specialist library supplies. The mail order business began in the late 1950s with the first library specialist catalogue printed in 1960.

Don Gresswell began operations back in 1938 in Enfield, trading as a stationers and booksellers to schools.
